An interview with GM_Khronos

Mrxknown

Mrxknown: Greetings GM Khronos, thank you for coming. May we begin?

GM_Khronos: Sure!

Mrxknown: As anyone can tell you have a good sense of humor. Is there anything else you would like for them to know?

GM_Khronos: Yes, but like any good story, it will have to unfold naturally.

Mrxknown: Did any of the other GMs tell you horror stories of the Jumpgate community before allowing you to take the job?

GM_Khronos: Oh no, they were all singing the praises of the Jumpgate community constantly. In fact, I've never heard such outstanding praise before...

Mrxknown: Have you been informed of Jumpgates' Rules of Role-Playing?

GM_Khronos: There is only one rule of roleplay now: GM_Khronos is always right. (insert evil laugh here)

Mrxknown: Well for those new players that are sure to come, what tips can you give them for making their own pilots and stories?

GM_Khronos: Be creative, yet work with the game system, not against it. Nothing is more frustrating for me than to see a creative idea be smashed or ignored, because it does not fit in with the game world, or engine. If in doubt, ask. My PM box is always open.

Mrxknown: How long have you been with Themis Group?

GM_Khronos: According to my boss, too long.

Mrxknown: Do you have any experience with games? Developing off-the-wall stories? Not listening to your boss, but caring more about doing what the customer says?

GM_Khronos: Yes, yes, and yes.

GM_Khronos: The first multiplayer game I ever played was Richard Bartle's MUD at Essex University, and I have been hooked on various online games ever since. I still spend a fair amount of my free time developing MUD engines and worlds, and I love to write open-ended stories with lots of hidden twists and turns. Oh, and if you ask any other Themis GM, they will confirm that I never listen to my boss.

Mrxknown: What was your first task given to you by Themis? Is it to generate a story to implement pie?

GM_Khronos: How did you guess? Unfortunately, the players missed the cue for action, and will now have to wait until the next opportunity arises for pie to be implemented. This opportunity will be scheduled Soon(tm).

Mrxknown: When did you start working for Themis Group?

GM_Khronos: I started working on Jumpgate around the beginning of October 2003.

Mrxknown: Have you played Jumpgate before?

GM_Khronos: I have been asked this question several times. I prefer to keep people guessing on the answer, so all I will say is this - I am a quick study.

Mrxknown: What were your impressions of this community?

GM_Khronos: The community has passion. This is a double-edged sword, but, if channeled properly, is a powerful ally.

Mrxknown: Will Nelson ever get a pony?

GM_Khronos: Anything is possible, just be careful what you wish for - it may come true.

Mrxknown: *whispers* Hey...uh can you give any uh hints...uh... tips for the...future? Yeah could you?

GM_Khronos: *shouts* Hey! Guys! This pilot wants hints, can I execute plan K now?

GM_Khronos: The best tip I can offer is to stock up on nukes. Lots and lots of nukes. Aside from that, watch the RPCs - they offer some of the best hints for what is about to happen. Did I mention nukes?

Mrxknown: Will you ever let the players PhotoShop you? (Ex: Savant)

GM_Khronos: If the players can find a photo of me, they are more than welcome to photoshop me - I'll even offer prizes.

Mrxknown: Well thank you for meeting with me and answering these questions. I wish you safe travels.

GM_Khronos: It was my pleasure, I look forward to seeing you in space!
